This pledge was the starting point for this church’s interest in the solar power systems as well as energy efficiency measures. As the first step, Vaha conducted an energy audit of the building that outlined where and how the electricity was used and made recommendations on how to mitigate the wasted energy through best practices. This family-owned company constructs grading, asphalt, concrete and pipeline infrastructure in residential tracts, multifamily housing project and commercial projects. This community center offers a wide array of programs and services to the youth, adults, and seniors in the city and the surrounding areas. Due to its high public use, the facility consumes significant amount of power. In order to best use the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) funding, the Department of Parks and Recreation decided to commission the installation of PV panels on the facility.
